Dr. Dena Al-Thani
Associate Professor at the Information & Computing Technology Department at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)
Dr. Dena Al-Thani is an assistant professor and the director of Interdisciplinary Programs at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). Her expertise includes inclusive design, accessibility, assistive technology, and designing for eHealth.
In addition to her role at Qatar Foundation, Dr. Al-Thani serves as a part-time consultant for research and innovation at the Mada Assistive Technology Center. She is also an associate member of the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Al-Thani participated as a keynote speaker and panelist in key international forums, including the annual meeting of the UN Council Working Group on Internet Policy Issues, the UN Human Rights Social Forum, and the Gulf Region Education and Assistive Technology Conference, among others.
Dr. Al-Thani published papers in high-ranked journals, presented her work at international conferences, and contributed book chapters to publications in her field.
Dr. Al Thani was awarded her Ph.D. in computer science from the Queen Mary University of London. Her thesis specialized in human-computer interaction and inclusive design. She obtained a postgraduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
